Open Studio – End of a Painting Year

Well it did turn into a party in my studio on Friday night.  We were actually packed like sardines for a few moments; especially since my studio isn’t actually very big.  It continued to be busy all weekend – I was totally out of my 50 “winter” cards and almost all my books by Saturday afternoon!  All but two of my little originals went; as well as a couple medium sized paintings, a few bottles of wine and almost 100 chocolates.

The Open Studio feels like an end of year party for me – the New Year’s Eve of painting, after which I gain renewed energy.  It means so much to me to have the awesome support I do from friends, family and those in my community…it is grist for this creative mill.  I’ll have an exhibit with some freshly inspired work starting in the early spring.

As well, if you missed getting cards, books or anything else, you have another chance before Christmas at the Elevate Winter Bazaar; 10am – 5pm Saturday, Dec 8 at the Courtenay Legion 367 Cliffe Ave., which is advertised as a fun and edgy arts and craft fair – no crocheted toilet paper covers allowed.  Hopefully see you there!
